ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach studio trumpet, recruit and maintain a high-quality trumpet studio, coach ensembles, perform as a soloist and in faculty ensembles, participate in outreach activities, and serve as liaison with regional music educators. Teach classes in areas of expertise. Work cooperatively with colleagues and students. Establish a reputation for high quality performance in the region, nationally, and internationally. Assume normal professional duties, such as creative activity, service, and student advising. Contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the University.
Assistant professors shall normally hold the terminal qualification in their discipline (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., MFA, etc.), and shall have demonstrated ability, through appropriate experience, to perform the functions of the position they are to hold.
Doctorate Required. Applicant must be an outstanding performer in a variety of musical settings including classical and jazz.
Preference will be given to candidates who have successful college teaching experience and who have a proven track record in recruiting students and working with public schools. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who have jazz experience and who could teach courses such as jazz techniques, jazz ensemble, music technology, brass methods, or others.
